White Walls: Mark Warren Jacques, “Something About Everything About Something”

12/13/2011

In White Wall’s new exhibition, Something About Everything About Something, artist Mark Warren Jacques further explores his interest in sacred mysticism, folklore, and universally shared moments within the growth and cycle of relationships between men and women. Employing universal symbols representing moments such as conception, birth, death and the after-life, his paintings evince the easily transmutable states of being within all life stages.

Investigating the constant flux of the universe, Warren Jacques’s symbols and abstracted compositions are made up from universally recognizable geometrical forms and blocks of color, which allow any viewer from any background to grasp Warren Jacques’ meanings and enter into an almost meditative state of focus on whatever the artwork’s composition and subject matter may be.

Mark Warren Jacques, originally from Columbus, Ohio lives and works in Portland, Oregon.  He has previously exhibited in San Francisco at Gallery Hijinks, Needles & Pens and Rare Device.  He has also exhibited widely over the Northwest, New York, Canada and Europe.
